Resolve “iphone could not restore error 13” from your iPhone.

Restoring an iPhone is very essential to restore all the data stored in it like mail settings, call history, network settings, widget settings, calendars, contacts along with certain applications with the help of iTunes. It is better to use the latest version of iTunes or you may encounter error messages like “iphone could not restore error 13”.You may not be successful when trying to restore or update your iPhone because the restore process may stop abruptly. You may get the “Connect to iTunes” screen on your iPhone and also encounter error messages like the following:

“The iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (13)”

The error appears when you try to download an iPhone application from the app store. The error also occurs when you when an attempt is made to install beta firmware with iTunes for Windows which is blocked by Apple because there is no Mac. It also indicates that there is a USB problem. You need to check the USB connection and if needed, try direct ports or change the USB cable if it is of an older version. The iphone could not restore could also appear if the iTunes is of an older version. If you are using Firmware 4.0 or higher then use iTunes 9.2 or higher versions.

Thus, to resolve the Apple iphone could not restore, you need to update iTunes and get rid of the error. If even this does not help, then remove iTunes from the system and reinstall it one more time to fix the issue. Alternatively, you could try the following steps to check if there is a problem with the USB cable:

  • Remove all the USB devices except devices like keyboard, mouse and the iPhone.
  • Remove the USB hubs and connect the iOS device to the computer directly.
  • Connect the device to the USB cable directly bypassing the dock.
  • Now restart your computer.
  • See if you can restore the device again in iTunes.
  • If yes, then try using other USB cables to test.

However, you could also use third party iPhone backup software for easy and advanced restoration of iPhone data without any errors.
