How to import contacts to iPhone?

The iPhone stores huge volumes of data. One can also import contacts to and from the iPhone. To import contacts to iPhone one needs to import CSV or the Comma Separated Value file that contains the entire contacts that have been imported into the contact application that may be the Apple's Address Book, Outlook Express, etc. You need to sync the iPhone to the application so that the contacts on the iPhone are not destroyed.

To import contacts using the Address Book you need to follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Open Applications in Finder and then double click on Address Book.
  • Click on File and then click on Import from the drop down list.
  • Search for the .csv file that you want to import and then click it to highlight it.
  • Now click on Import from the drop down list.
  • Connect the iPhone to the computer, plug in the USB cable in the iPhone and the USB port in the computer.
  • Click on the iTunes on the dock and iPhone tab in iTunes sidebar.
  • Click on the Info tab and check the checkbox Sync Address Book Contacts. Click on All contacts box and then on Apply.
  • The Sync process is complete. Disconnect the iPhone.

To import contact into Outlook Express you need to follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Open the Outlook Express application. Click on File on top of the screen.
  • From the drop down list, select Import and then click on Address Book.
  • Click on the desired CSV file and Open it.
  • Connect the iPhone and the PC.
  • Run iTunes, click on iPhone in the sidebar.
  • Click on Info.
  • Check the Sync Outlook Contacts and All contacts or Selected Groups. Check the box of the group that you need to sync with the iPhone for Selected Groups.
  • When synchronization is complete, click on Apply and disconnect the iPhone.

However, if there are any difficulties in performing the aforementioned steps then you can use an efficient and reliable third party iPhone contacts backup software that can import contacts to iPhone. It can backup the contacts to the .csv file and enable iPhone data recovery in times of need.
