Fix iTunes error 9808




The iTunes error 9808 is a very common error encountered by thousands of iTunes users very often. One may encounter an error message like the following:

"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-9808). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."

The most common reasons for the occurrence of the iTunes store error 9808 are incorrect date and time settings on the computer or security certificate settings on the computer are incorrect on the system.

It is very necessary to fix iTunes error 9808 because of the occurrence of the error does not allow the user to access the iTunes store or establish a connectivity with the iPhone and your computer either Windows or Mac.

To fix the error on Windows 7 system one needs to follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Click on START, then on Control Panel.
  • Select the Clock, Language and the Region.
  • Click on Set the Date and Time.
  • Click on the Change Date and Time.
  • Set the date and time in the window that pops up.
  • Click on OK, Apply.

For all the other versions of Windows Click on START > Control Panel and then edit the Date and Time. After performing the aforementioned steps one can access the iTunes store.

To fix the error on a Mac, follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Click on the Apple Menu and then on System Preferences.
  • Select the Date and Time icon.
  • Check the checkbox next to the Set Date and Time automatically which would update the date and time automatically over Internet.
  • Close the window and access the iTunes store.
  • If it cannot be accessed then uncheck the box and manually set the date and time. Now try accessing the iTunes store.

However, if the error is not fixed then iTunes would not be able to perform the task of backing up the data stored on the iPhone leading to loss of the entire data stored on it.
