Fix unknown restore error iphone
Did you get an error message like the following when trying to update your iPhone?
“Unknown restore error”
When the unknown restore error iPhone pops up one cannot update the iPhone. The error can be fixed with the help of the steps mentioned below:
- When you get the “Unknown restore error” restart the computer.
- If you are using a computer or a laptop try using a different USB port. If you have plugged the iPhone into the front of the computer in a desktop then plug it into a port in the back of the desktop. Plug it directly into the port on the computer and not the USB hub that is the cable with a number of USB ports. Sometimes simply using a different USB port allows you to restore.
- Disable the antivirus program and Windows Firewall and then restore the iPhone. If you are unable to do the restoration it means that some problems are there that are blocking the connection between the computer and the servers that is to be contacted for the restoration to complete.
- If you still cannot restore the iPhone then there must be problems in the internet connection itself. Try using a different internet connection.
- You can also try creating a new user profile on the computer. For this purpose you need to open iTunes in new user profile and then try to restore. After doing this iTunes downloads a new restore file that is put on your iPhone. This could successfully fix the unknown restore error problem if the error was being caused because of the old user profile.
- You can also try to restore the iPhone on a different computer with iTunes. When iTunes pops up a message that it has found an iPhone in recovery mode click “OK” and then “Restore” or “Restore and Update”.
When this process is completed you would be asked whether you want to restore from the backup or set up as new phone. At this point of time unplug the iPhone and then plug it into another computer to sync data with. Now you can restore the iPhone from the backup. However, if you have an updated and clean backup available then you can also use third party iPhone data recovery tool for the iPhone data recovery.
